A Sunday afternoon, the weather not so great, but the day is mine. Grab a friend, and hit the road looking for inspiration…There is something incredible about the process. Maria and I decided that 99E towards Canby was the direction for the day, which turned out to be perfect. Here are a few of the photos from the little adventure.
I absolutely love the opportunity to step outside my box and explore….Just do something different for the sake of doing something different. Often times it takes someone to help me get there, and for this little exploration, I have Malka to thank. You rock!
A little spare time with James and Lila practicing next door….Decided to create some images. These two are simply amazing!
The preparations are wrapping up, and the time for change is now…..Just a few more details to hammer out, and it’s a go. This weekend I wanted to experiment with a couple of things, so thought I would invite the dancers of Polaris Dance Company to the studio. First, I was curious how many people I could have in, and still create something. Well, for parties, I’m thinking that five is the magic number…..There can always be exceptions, but photographing 9 people was a little crazy.
The second thing was getting a feel for what it could be if there’s nothing specific planned. This was about 9 women coming to the studio, each with a very different personality, and different idea of what it is to be in front of the camera….Some love it, some not so much. They brought their clothes, borrowed some of mine, and we played. They drank wine and champagne, had snacks, played with hair and makeup, and just had fun. It was exactly what I had hoped for…..An experience.
Going into this change, I have no preconceived ideas about what the shoots will be, as I know that each individual will be after something a little different. I truly believe it will be incredible fun for everyone, no matter what the agenda. It really is something you must experience to be appreciated.

I have to say, I do love my routine…..But sometime, you just just have to break free. Networking, happy hour, book club, movie night and repeat. Fun for a while…..Next time you have the gang together to discuss Oprah’s current favorite, set it aside, and start planning your day in the studio.
I’ve spent the past month creating the perfect space for just this reason. Two 800 square foot rooms, one filled with fabulous sets and light for creating photographs, and the other with all the comforts of home and more. Details soon, but shoot me an email and we’ll get it planned.
